A study on the religious life of Columbia, S.C., 1865-1876: First Presbyterian Church ; 2003 May [typescript].

During Reconstruction era, First Presbyterian Church remained a strong center of worship in downtown Columbia; the church allowed congregations of other denominations to use its buildings for whorship, and supported the establishment of new African-American parishes, including Ladson Presbyterian Church in 1871.
